Full Scale Model (week 3)

This week we each had a different job and tried our best to get each step completed as early in the week as possible, as many jobs could not begin until others were completed. Everyone did awesome and we got most of our goal completed! Just a little behind on the CNC cutting because the setting up of Fusion 360 was the hardest part. No worries though, we expected this and will still have lots of time to construct the final piece. We also realized we needed to rescale the height of our unit as well as the material thickness so just a few things need to be addressed and then we begin construction! And new renders to come that are the appropriate scale...

Kitt also picked up a stain for us so we are ready to get our pieces going. The plan is to sand and stain everything after the CNC. And get some spacers cut, before putting out pieces together.

This week I was in charge of renders and stain tests. We realized our shelves are rounded to fit into the rounded slots of the unit because the CNC can't cut 90-degree inner corners. However, the edges of the shelves will be squared so I talked to Bill about routering the edges afterward. He explained that there will be a very small flat edge on the side left over, but we decided we could most likely get it to work. Very excited to begin construction!
