I got further into some rendering this week and it's starting to look a lot like the real thing which is super exciting.
Putting the small pieces together felt extra rewarding because they fit so perfectly.

This week I struggled a little bit with adding the 2D-designs on the outside of the plane. Sometimes "split" wasn't working to add a curve to the surface because it wasn't closed or capped in the first place. So as an alternative I tried using "intersect" which at first seemed to be working well but then I realized I couldn't change the colour if I did it this way. I couldn't select the curves on the plane as a surface and therefore couldn't change how it looked in rendering, which of course was the whole purpose. I figured out if I stick to using capped extrusions to "split" the surface of the plane, it created a perfect surface to render in different colours and materials.
This piece is SO CLOSE to being complete I wish I could call it done. However, there are still quite a few tiny details I want to make sure to add in, like the concave linework and the raised labels on the tail. I also didn't want to rush the rendering process because I've never used lights or changed the background in Rhino before, and I want to explore some options so I can learn about those features as well.
